Finally ditched the 12-point sockets for axle work, wish I did it sooner
Had a stubborn hub nut on a Freightliner outside Tulsa last month that kept rounding with my 12-point. Buddy at the parts counter handed me a 6-point impact socket and told me to stop being stubborn. Three hits with the gun and it spun right off, no heat needed. That 20 dollar socket just saved me what would have been a two hour fight and a torch job. Anyone else still running 12-points on heavy stuff or am I the last holdout?
