Found a $8 harbor freight pry bar that beats my $60 one for injector cups
Stripping injector cups on a 6.0 in Columbus last week and my Snap-on kept slipping. Grabbed a cheap HF flat bar from the truck, ground the tip down to a chisel edge, and it popped all 8 cups without any fuss. Used it with a slide hammer adapter I rigged from an old u-joint. Anyone else modding cheap tools for specific jobs instead of dropping cash on the fancy stuff?

Ground the HF one down to fit a tight spot on a seized brake caliper bracket and it held up better than my Matco punch. Cheap steel is soft enough to shape easy, but it still takes a beating if you don't overheat it. Half the tool cost is the name, the other half is knowing what to grind off.

nah see you got lucky with that one. cheap steel is cheap for a reason, it might flex or shatter when you least expect it. that snap-on slipping probably just needed a better bite on the cup, not a whole new tool you're gonna have to re-grind every few jobs
