Had a close call last week with a 6.7 Powerstroke's fuel system. The shop in Billings had just replaced the CP4 pump, but the tech didn't flush the lines well enough.

Yeah, not flushing the lines after a CP4 swap is asking for trouble. I saw a truck come in on a tow strap because the new pump sent leftover metal shavings straight through the injectors. The whole fuel system was toast, like a $12,000 paperweight. That kind of shortcut just costs the owner twice.

Ouch, that story hits close to home. I learned that lesson the hard way years ago by being the guy who almost skipped the flush to save an hour. Spent the next two days pulling everything back apart to clean out the mess I made. Felt like a total genius, let me tell you. What's the dumbest shop shortcut you've ever seen bite someone?

Guy at my old shop tried to skip torquing lug nuts in order, just zipped them on with an impact. Three wheels came loose on a test drive, one sheared the studs clean off. Watching him explain that to the boss was better than tv. Some people just have to learn everything the hard way.

Flushing lines is one of those things shops say you gotta do, but I've seen guys skip it and get away with it plenty of times without any issues. Kinds makes you wonder if it's really the end of the world or just the shop covering their butt.
