Heard a nasty crack while torquing the head bolts. Now I'm staring at a cracked block.

Torque wrenches are a thing for a reason.

My old 350 cracked three years ago and a welding shop fixed it.

Wow, @wyatt_stone, that's some durability. My friend's boat engine cracked and the repair cost more than the thing was worth lol.

Yeah, @henderson.hayden, my luck usually runs more like your friend's boat. I'd probably just crack the weld trying to fix it.
