Hot take: I used to hate on reman injectors until a shop foreman set me straight

Guy with 30 years at a Cat dealer told me to stop being a snob about remans after I spent $2,400 on new ones that failed in 8 months. He showed me the test bench data and now I only run remans from certified shops - who else has had a change of heart on rebuilt parts?

I mean honestly yeah, the whole "new is always better" thing is such a trap with injectors. I've seen way more new ones crap out than properly rebuilt ones from a shop that actually knows what they're doing. Course it helps when you find a place that backs their work too.

I blew $1,800 on a set of "premium" new injectors for my 6.0 Powerstroke and had two dead ones in under a year. My local diesel shop showed me their reman flow sheets and I felt like an idiot. Now I stick with their certified remans and they've been running strong for 3 years straight. Sometimes you gotta eat crow and learn the hard way.

Wait, did your buddy ever figure out which specific brand of reman injectors the Cat guy was pushing? I had a friend who went through this exact same mess with his 7.3. He bought a set of brand new ones from a big online parts place and two of them started knocking within six months. A buddy at a fleet garage told him to bring them in and he literally showed him how the new injectors had different spray patterns than the factory specs. My friend swapped them for a set of remans from the shop's go-to rebuild guy and those have been humming for like four years now. He still gets mad talking about the money he wasted on the "new" ones, especially since the rebuilt ones came with a better warranty anyway.
