I keep seeing guys at the shop skip the torque step on injector hold-down clamps

They just crank them down with an impact, and it's a sure way to get a fuel leak or a cracked head after about 10,000 miles. Anyone have a good trick for keeping the torque wrench handy on a crowded engine bay?

Oh man, I've seen that too. I mean, I watched a guy do it on a 6.7 Powerstroke last year and it was leaking diesel within a month. I keep my little 1/4-inch drive torque wrench right in my back pocket now, it's the only way.

Honestly joseph_green13, that's the perfect example of why specs matter. I saw a guy at the shop just reef on those clamps with a regular wrench like he was trying to prove something. Tbh it's wild how many people treat inch-pounds like they're nothing and then wonder why their truck is marking its spot. Your pocket torque wrench is the move, because guessing just costs you time and a big diesel puddle later.

That 6.7 Powerstroke clamp spec is only 18 inch-pounds, not foot-pounds.
