My uncle told me to never trust a glow plug light on a 7.3 Powerstroke, just listen for the relay click. Spent a whole morning chasing a no-start before I remembered that.

That relay can fail silently too.

Never had one fail on me.

Wait, silent failure? So you don't even know it's dead until it leaves you stranded?

Oh man, did you at least get the truck going? Those old 7.3s have a mind of their own sometimes.
