Shoutout to the old mechanic who told me to swap injectors before chasing air in the fuel system
Spent 3 hours bleeding lines on a 7.3 Powerstroke last Friday only to find out a stuck injector was dumping fuel back into the return rail instead of the cylinder, so has anyone else wasted a whole morning chasing a ghost like that?

Wait, you mean sticking with the basic stuff first actually saves time? I used to be all about chasing the fancy electronic gremlins. But last month I swapped three fuel filters on a 6.0 before realizing a clogged return line cap was the real problem. It's humbling when the simple fix wins.

Humbling when the simple fix wins"? Man, I don't know about all that. I've seen plenty of times where swapping injectors first turned a two-hour job into a full weekend project because you cracked a fuel rail or introduced air you didn't have before. The real humbling part is admitting you should have checked the cheap stuff first, not patting yourself on the back for doing it later. Sometimes chasing the obvious fix is just as much of a gamble, just with lower stakes. If you've got the time, sure, but if it's a customer's truck you're sweating on, is it really always worth the guess?
