Spent $400 on a fancy digital torque angle gauge for head bolts and I'm not sure it was worth it.

Man, I feel that. I dropped about the same on a super precise one for doing cam bolts on my project car. Used it exactly twice in three years. The old clicker wrench and a paint marker on the bolt head got me 99% of the way there for years. It's a cool tool that makes you feel pro, but for how often you actually need that level of detail, it's hard to justify the cash.

Used to think you needed the fancy gear, but your paint marker trick actually makes a lot of sense.

Wait, you spent four hundred bucks on that?

It's funny how we'll drop that kind of cash on something we'll barely use, just because it looks cool or promises precision we don't actually need. It's the same trap I see everywhere - people buying expensive gadgets for hobbies they barely have time for, myself included.
