That time a 6.7 Powerstroke left me stranded in a Walmart parking lot

The high-pressure fuel pump just gave up, dumping metal through the whole system. I had to flatbed it to my shop in Phoenix and replace the pump, lines, and injectors. Anyone else had a CP4 fail that catastrophically?

Honestly, the thing that gets me is how quiet it is right before it goes. No real warning, just a sudden stall. It's not like a belt squeal or a rod knock. That silence is the worst part, because you know what's coming next and the repair bill is already forming in your head.

The silence before the pop is always the worst part.

Wait, you can actually hear that silence? My car just dies with a weird little shudder and then the dash lights up like a Christmas tree. I never get a quiet warning, it just quits. That sounds even more stressful to be honest.

My buddy's truck did that exact quiet stall thing last month. He said it was like the engine just held its breath for a second. Then came the god-awful metal crunch. @willow_wilson73, your way sounds bad too, a full light show with no notice. His wallet is still crying from the tow and the new transmission. That quiet moment is truly the calm before a financial storm.
