Warning about a bad injector cup install last week in Denver
I was swapping injectors on a 6.7 Powerstroke last Tuesday outside Denver and one cup didn't seat right. Realized it after I torqued everything down and fuel was weeping from the bore on startup. Anyone else had a brand new cup fail to seal and chase that leak for hours?

Used to be one of those guys who thought cups were cups and a fresh one would always seal right up. Then I had a brand new Ford cup from the dealer that leaked worse than the old one I took out. Took me a full afternoon to finally figure out it wasn't my install, it was the cup itself had a tiny scratch on the sealing face. Now I check every single cup with a magnifying glass and a bright light before I even touch it with the install tool. Def changed my whole view on this job.

Yeah that's a brutal lesson to learn the hard way. A little magnifying glass and bright light saves you from chasing your tail for hours.

emma_jones that bit about the "brand new Ford cup from the dealer" REALLY hits home. I actually did the SAME thing last month. I spent TWO HOURS staring at my leaky install, blaming my torque wrench and my shaky hands, before I realized the "new" cup had a hairline crack right on the edge. Now I feel like a total dork holding a magnifying glass up to every little piece of metal like I'm a detective on a crime show. Why do we all have to learn this lesson the painfully hard way
