Dropped $150 on a digital painting course that was all hype

I paid $150 for this online digital art class that promised to teach me pro lighting and shading techniques. The instructor just rushed through demos without explaining anything, like 2 minute speed paints with no commentary. The whole thing felt like watching someone show off instead of actually teaching. Has anyone else got burned by a flashy course that didn't deliver anything useful?

@ben_fisher hit it exactly - those "glorified portfolios" are everywhere now. Look for courses that post full lesson samples first, not just fancy trailers. Always check for refund policies too before you buy.

Gotta wonder if these "instructors" even have teaching experience or if they're just good at art and figured they could cash in. Like, knowing how to do something and knowing how to explain it are two totally different skills.

$150 for 2 minute speed paints with no commentary? That is borderline criminal. Seriously, that's not a class, that's a flex. Must have been painful watching the instructor just breeze through demos while you're sitting there thinking "wait, how did you do that blending thing?" Have seen too many of these overpriced courses that are really just glorified portfolios.
