My nephew asked why my digital paintings look flat, and he was right
So my 12 year old nephew was watching me paint on my tablet last Saturday and he just goes "why does it look like a sticker?" I laughed it off but then I pulled up my last 3 pieces and honestly he had a point. I had been slapping highlights on top of flat color for months without ever thinking about how light actually wraps around a form. Spent the rest of the weekend redoing one old piece with just one light source and the difference is nuts, like night and day. How do you all practice lighting without overthinking it? Would love some simple exercises that actually stick.
