Never thought I'd say this about a live stream critique group
I joined this weekly art feedback stream back in March just to lurk, figured it'd be full of people patting each other on the back. But after watching 3 sessions where the host pointed out real anatomy issues on a portrait I'd been stuck on for like 2 weeks, I finally submitted my own piece. The specific notes about my lighting values were way more useful than any tutorial I'd watched on YouTube, and now I actually look forward to the Wednesday 7pm slot. Has anyone else found a critique format that actually helped them improve quicker than solo practice?
Wait, the host spent three whole sessions pointing out anatomy issues on one portrait before you even submitted anything? That is wild to me. Most streamers I've seen would just say "looks good" and move on to the next one so they don't hurt feelings. The fact that this person went that hard on a piece that wasn't even theirs, and it turned out to be right, is honestly rare. Wednesday at 7pm sounds like a solid slot to keep.
