Rant: My art got stolen for a t-shirt design and I only found out from a random tag on Instagram
Last week I was just scrolling through my feed when I saw a friend tag me in a post from some random online store. It was my digital painting of a city skyline at sunset, the one I posted here like 3 years ago, slapped on a t-shirt. I spent a solid month on that piece back in 2021, working on it after my day job in Chicago. The store had thousands of followers and was selling it for $25. I never got a message asking to use it, no credit, nothing. I felt sick. I sent them a DM and an email with a link to my original post, but it's been radio silence for 5 days now. It's so disheartening to put all that time into something just to have it taken. Has anyone else had their art ripped off and actually gotten it taken down successfully? What did you do?

My buddy had the same thing happen. He sent the notice and the copy was gone in a couple days.

Man that's just awful... I'm really sorry that happened to you. @sarahscott mentioned the DMCA takedown, and that's probably the real next step. Did you look up how to file one for the platform the store is using? Sometimes you have to find the right form... it can be a pain but it's the official way to make them listen. It's crazy they just ignore a direct message about stealing your work like that.
