Wait, she told you to stop using pure black and you just ignored her for three whole years? That is wild to me because most art teachers I had would let stuff slide but the second you broke a "rule" they would bring it up every single class until you gave in. Three years of doing the exact thing she told you not to do takes some serious commitment. Did she ever notice and call you out on it again, or did she just give up on you? I kinda want to know if you ever tried the whole mixing-your-own-darks thing and liked it, or if you still think she was full of it.
