Saw a digital art gallery in Chicago using iPads as frames and nobody was watching them
I was at a small pop up digital art show in Chicago last weekend on Milwaukee Ave and they had about 12 iPads mounted on the wall as frames for the pieces. What got me was that 3 of them were frozen on the home screen and one still had the notification banner from the artist's email showing. The person running the space told me they just set them up that morning and hoped for the best. For a show where people paid $20 to get in, that felt rough to see. Has anyone here done a digital showcase with rented screens and figured out a way to lock them down so this does not happen?

Man, that is rough for 20 bucks a head. I read a thing a while back about museums using iPad setups and they said the main fix is Apple's Guided Access mode, you triple tap the home button and it locks the screen to one app so nobody can poke around. You can also set the auto lock to never and turn off notifications for everything except what you need. A friend who did a small show told me he put a strip of gaffer tape over the home button too, just in case. The banner from the artist's email is the part that would get me, that is a two second fix in settings before you hang the thing on the wall.
