Shoutout to the guy at the local art fair who showed me how to layer textures in Clip Studio Paint

I was just walking through the booths at the downtown Portland art walk last Saturday and this artist spent 5 minutes showing me his brush stacking trick, and now my digital paintings actually look like they have depth instead of looking flat like a sticker.

My buddy Marcus tried that same brush layering trick last week after watching a tutorial. He spent like three hours on one leaf texture, convinced he broke his tablet somehow. His finished piece actually looked decent though, so I guess the method has some merit even if it takes a while to click.

Jumping in late here, but has anyone checked if Marcus had his brush stabilizer turned on? I spent an hour fighting a texture once before realizing mine was cranked up way too high and it was buffering my strokes.
