Guy at the lumber yard in Boise saw my cut list and asked why I measure twice
He said most folks under 40 he sees just mark once and rip it, then come back for more board. I started drawing a second line with a marking knife instead of a pencil and my gaps dropped from a stacked dime to about a credit card. Anyone else switched to a knife line for crosscuts, or is that overkill for framing lumber?

Knife line works cause it severs the wood fibers right at the surface, so your saw teeth don't drag and wander like they do chasing a pencil line. For framing it's overkill, but once you feel the difference on finish cuts you won't go back.
