I think peel and stick tile is underrated for rentals
Honestly, everyone in my last apartment thread was trashing the peel and stick stuff, but I put it in my bathroom in Hoboken 3 years ago and it held up fine through two tenants. No, it's not real tile, but for a landlord who doesn't want to spend $1,200 on a backsplash that might get wrecked, it does the job. Has anyone actually had it fail on them, or are we just judging from a YouTube video?

My cousin’s peel and stick floor peeled up and stuck to the cat instead.

Man, hard disagree here. Peel and stick is the definition of a temporary fix, not a real solution. @davidshah’s cat story is hilarious but honestly not shocking, that stuff lifts at the edges the second moisture gets behind it. Bathrooms are the worst place to use it, all that steam and humidity breaks down the adhesive fast. I’ve pulled enough of that crap off walls to know it never comes off clean either, it leaves behind a sticky mess that takes hours to scrape. Real tile or even a cheap sheet of plastic paneling lasts longer and looks better. You got lucky with three years, but that’s not the norm, it’s the exception.
