I used to think brand name laminate was a waste of money

After spending $220 on a cheap click-lock floor from a big box store that started peeling at the seams after 6 months, I finally tried the well-reviewed stuff from a flooring supply house. The price hurt at first, but the locking mechanism actually holds tight - has anyone else had to redo a floor because you tried to save $50 upfront?

Bruh that sucks. I had a similar thing happen with some clearance tile I grabbed. Looked fine in the box but after a year half the tiles had this weird bubbling under the surface. Ended up ripping it all out and going with a mid range LVP. The frustrating part is it was like $300 extra to get the better stuff but now I dont have to worry about it for the next 10 years. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for with flooring. Lesson learned the hard way.

You know, I used to think you could save a few bucks and it'd be fine, but your story kinda changed my mind. I've been burned on cheap stuff too, and that $300 extra is looking like a pretty good deal compared to ripping it all out. Lesson learned for sure.

Oh come on, is it really that serious though? Sure it's annoying when tiles bubble up, but ripping out a whole floor over it sounds kinda drastic. @paulnguyen, didn't you say you spent $300 extra to avoid that? Life is too short to stress about floor bubbles unless they're literally tripping you. I mean, tile is tile, right? Maybe just throw a rug over the bad ones and call it a day. People act like a little imperfection is the end of the world but I bet no one even notices unless you point it out.
