Insulation choice that cost me $200 extra upfront

I had to pick between spray foam and fiberglass batts for my garage ceiling last month. Went with the spray foam because everyone says it's better. Big mistake for a diy guy like me. The kit was $450 compared to $250 for batts and I still ended up with a mess on my hands and some gaps I had to patch. Has anyone else had trouble getting that spray foam to actually seal right on their first try?

Oh man, my first spray foam attempt looked like a horror movie set - I was scraping foam off my glasses for a week! Did you at least save some cash on the energy bill to make the mess feel worth it?

Bet your knuckles are still healing from scraping that stuff off too, aren't they? My buddy tried the DIY route and ended up with a 15 degree temp swing between rooms - he saved 40 bucks on the bill but spent 200 on therapy laughs. Did you at least get the foam off your dog before it cured into a permanent fur helmet?

Bro tell me about it, I had foam dripping down my arm for like an hour.
