My uncle told me to always buy the $30 paint roller, not the $5 one.
I argued with him for years until I finally tried it on my kitchen cabinets and the difference was night and day. Anyone have a similar 'you get what you pay for' tool story?

My buddy refused to buy a decent drill for the longest time. He kept burning through those cheap ones from the big box store. He finally got a good one after the third one died mid-project, and he said it was like going from a toy to a real tool. The power difference alone made his work so much easier. He admitted he wasted more money replacing the bad ones than if he'd just bought right the first time.

Going from a toy to a real tool" is the perfect way to put it. Some people just have to learn the hard way. They'll fight you tooth and nail about how their bargain bin stuff is "just as good," then act shocked when it breaks doing basic jobs. The stubbornness costs more in the end, both in money and frustration.
