Pro tip: my grandfather's 1950s plaster walls in Cleveland took 60 years to crack, but the drywall I hung in 2019 already shows tape seams
Walking through my old neighborhood near West 25th last weekend, I noticed the houses he worked on still have smooth plaster, while the flip jobs from 5 years ago already have popped screws and hairline cracks, so I'm starting to think the old guys with wood lath and three coats knew something we traded away for speed, and I want to know if anyone here still does full plaster or if I'm just being nostalgic about a lost skill.
