Spent a whole Saturday ripping up tile that looked fine to everyone else

My wife thinks I'm crazy but that 15 year old linoleum in the kitchen had to go. I spent 8 hours with a scraper and a heat gun getting every last piece up. The subfloor underneath had water damage in a 2x3 foot spot near the sink. Found out the hard way that the previous owner just laid new tile over wet plywood. Anyone else deal with hidden damage behind stuff that looks okay on top?

Yeah that "looks fine on top" thing gets you every time.

Did you catch that article about checking the bottom side before you even buy?

Oh man, I gotta disagree - sometimes the top is all that matters.
