I finally quit using painter's tape on trim and it bit me in the worst way
Everyone on here says tape is lazy and you should just cut a clean edge freehand, so I tried that last Saturday in my upstairs hallway with a $40 brush and a fresh quart of semi-gloss. I was cutting along the baseboard and my hand slipped near the door casing, and I dragged a 6 inch streak of white paint right onto the stained wood. I tried wiping it with a damp rag, which just smeared it deeper into the grain, so I ended up sanding that patch down and re-staining it, which cost me the whole afternoon. Tape exists for a reason, and my freehand days are done. Has anyone found a tape that actually pulls clean off fresh paint, or am I stuck waiting 24 hours every time?
