Just realized peel-and-stick backsplash tiles aren't a cheat
My buddy's bathroom redo proved they look professional if done right.

Ugh, not this again. Jamiehayes just got a bad batch or didn't prep the wall right. Mine have been fine for ages, even in my tiny, steamy bathroom. People love to blame the product instead of their own rush job.

My kitchen reno taught me they look great for a year or two. The issue is the adhesive fails faster around the sink from heat and steam. I ended up replacing mine with real tile after the edges started lifting.

That lifting edge problem is the worst. I learned the hard way that the stuff they include in the box is useless for wet areas. Use a separate, heavy duty tub and tile adhesive instead, the kind that comes in a tube. It takes longer to set up but actually sticks. My backsplash has held up for three years now with no issues, even right behind the kettle.

Are you saying the adhesive gives up just from steam? That's pathetic for something sold as a solution. Olivia's right about skipping the box stuff, but it's wild we have to buy extra to make it work. Three years with no issues sounds like a dream compared to Jamie's experience. Guess I'll be reading glue tube labels very carefully from now on.
