My kitchen floor went from a mess to perfect in one weekend

I had these old vinyl tiles that were peeling and stained from a leak last year. Spent two days pulling them up and putting down new laminate planks myself. The difference is crazy, it looks like a whole new room now. I used a basic underlayment from the hardware store and it made the floor feel solid, not hollow. Honestly, who knew a floor could change the feel of a space that much? Has anyone else done a floor and been shocked by the result?

Laminate is only a pain if you rush it. The locking system needs a solid tap with a block to close up tight. A gap just means someone got lazy.

Ha, yeah you're probably right. I get lazy too and skip the tapping block thing. Last time I did a laminate floor I was so tired I just pushed the planks together with my foot. Ended up with a gap big enough to fit a cat's paw in. Felt like a real genius when I had to rip the whole row up and start over.

Wasn't laminate a pain to install without any gaps?

My last laminate floor had a gap you could lose a quarter in.
