My uncle's advice about painting trim first just cost me 3 hours

He swore up and down that you gotta paint all the trim before rolling the walls, said it saves time on cutting in. I did it his way on my living room in Boise and now I gotta go back and touch up like 20 spots where the wall paint smeared onto the fresh trim. My hands were shaky from coffee, sure, but dang. Has anyone else tried the trim-first approach and regretted it, or did I just do it sloppy?

I used to swear by the trim first method too, my dad taught me that. But you're right about the smearing, I did my kitchen last spring and spent a whole Saturday fixing the same mess you're dealing with. That touch up paint never quite matches either, so now I'm with you, walls first and then trim. Less cleanup, and I can be a little sloppy with the roller knowing I'll cut in nice after.
