PSA: Those 'free' laminate samples at Home Depot are a TRAP
I went to the Home Depot in Portland last weekend to grab some laminate floor samples for my laundry room. I picked up 8 of those tiny 2x2 inch squares and got charged $4.50 at checkout because they're apparently only free if you return them or some nonsense. Has anyone else gotten burned by this hidden policy or is it just my store being weird?

dude same thing happened to me at the one in Tacoma, they charged me for like 6 samples and when i asked they said it was a "deposit" lol okay Home Depot

oh yeah i walked out of there with like 8 paint samples and a single bag of mulch and my total was somehow 47 bucks. i just nodded and paid because i was too embarrassed to ask questions in front of the guy with the barcode scanner. pretty sure i paid for a whole gallon of paint in sample form that day.
