Used vinegar to clean my grout lines and ended up etching the tile floor in the kitchen

I tried a 50/50 vinegar and water mix on ceramic tiles last weekend and the grout looks great but now there are dull spots on the tile itself, so has anyone else learned this the hard way or is there a better homemade cleaner for grout?
