Critique on my layer stacking changed how I draw walls, but is the old way really dead?

A senior drafter looked at my wall details last month and said I was overcomplicating the hatch order, so I switched to putting the fill on the base layer before any linework. It cut my cleanup time on a 40-unit apartment set by maybe 2 hours. But I still catch myself fighting the override settings when I have to show a partial demo wall. Does anyone else stick to the old stacked method for certain details, or are you all on the single-layer train now?

Overcomplicating the hatch order" hit me hard too. I switched to base layer fills last year and it saves me time on clean sheets, but I still use the stacked method for demo walls. Overrides are just clunky when you need a partial knock out, and the old way lets me see exactly what's staying and going without fighting the settings. So no, the old way is not dead for me, it's just saved for the messy stuff.
