Rant: Dropped $450 on a plotter calibrator that's been a paperweight for 8 weeks

I figured the fancy laser grid tool would fix our layer alignment issues at the Portland shop, but it just made my sketches worse and the old string method still wins, anyone else get burned by gadget upgrades that barely do the job?
