Spent 3 years using a 2H pencil for drafting until I switched to a 0.5mm mechanical for a project in Denver

Hold up, you used a 2H pencil for three years on actual drafting work? My hand hurts just thinking about that.

Haha "my hand hurts just thinking about that" - I feel you @the_ben! Actually heard some old school draftsmen talk about this once on a podcast. They said 2H was the standard for light construction lines because it didn't smudge as much, but yeah three years of that sounds brutal on the wrist.

Up in Denver you start noticing a pattern with tools and gear... people stick with what works until something forces a change. @matthewking mentioned the podcast about old school draftsmen, and that's how most trades go until a project demands a switch. It's like how I used crappy kitchen knives for years until one broke mid-meal and I realized the cheap ones were doing more harm than good.
