Spent $85 on a fancy drafting scale that broke after 3 weeks

Bought a digital scale from a big box store to measure out floor plans faster, but the little wheel jammed on the second big project and now it just spits out random numbers, has anyone found a brand that actually holds up to daily use?

Hey @cora813, did that dryer sheet trick actually fix the wheel jamming or just the random numbers thing? I've got one that physically sticks and skips on the roller, not sure a static fix would help that. Wondering if the issue is in the wheel bearings or something deeper inside the casing.

@cora813, yeah try the dryer sheet but also pop it open and blow out any dust or lint around the bearings. Honestly it's like how your phone gets slow just from pocket lint, sometimes the simplest physical fix works way better than anything digital.

Wait, so the fix for a broken scale is basically a trip to the laundry room? That's wild. I've been fighting with mine for a month now, and I just assumed it was a lost cause. Honestly, at $85, I'd be more tempted to use it as a paperweight than try to convince myself a dryer sheet is going to save the day. But hey, if it works, I guess I owe my lint trap an apology for all the badmouthing I did. Have you tried just smacking it against a desk yet? That usually fixes my weird electronics for about 5 minutes.

Check if it's actually the wheel mechanism or just software glitching. Those digital scales can go haywire from static electricity build up on the rollers. Try running a dryer sheet over the wheel before you toss it, cleared up my issues with a similar model.
