Unpopular opinion: I drew every fitting at true size for 2 years before a welder showed me why my spools never fit
He laid his tape on my drawing at the fab shop in Gary and said the pipe grows when you weld it, so isometrics should trim for shrinkage, and I just stood there doing the math on every spool I ever sent out.

Did the same thing for a year and a half until an old pipefitter caught it. I kept blaming the field guys for bad fits and they were probably cussing my name the whole time. Do you redo the iso or just hand the welder a sharpie and let him mark it up?
