Warning: My CAD mistake on a green building design
I was drafting a model for an eco-friendly house last week. I picked a standard material from my library without looking into it. The client later told me it came from a polluting source, and I had to redo the work. Now I always double check where materials come from for green jobs. What tips do you have for keeping drafts sustainable?

Ugh I did the EXACT same thing with bamboo flooring last year! Assumed it was fine because the product page said "rapidly renewable." Turns out the shipping distance totally blew the carbon budget. Now I vet the whole supply chain before anything goes in a model.

Coal-fired plant for recycled steel? That's the exact opposite of green. I'd be so mad if I found that out at the final review.

My buddy Jake had this whole thing with some recycled steel beams last month. He assumed the supplier was legit because their website said "green" all over it. Turns out their energy source was some coal-fired plant overseas. He found out during the final review and the whole structural schematic got flagged. Now he makes a point to actually call and ask for the mill certificates before anything goes in the model. Tbh it added a whole extra step to his checks but it saves the headache later.
