Why does every architectural firm still draft in 2D for permits? Found a stat that shocked me
I was reading through the AIA's 2024 firm survey over the weekend and it said something like 68% of permit sets still go out as 2D CAD files, not BIM. I've been pushing my office to go full Revit for everything for 3 years now, and the permit guy literally told me last Thursday he prefers the old DWGs because they're easier to redline. Am I missing something, or is the industry just stuck in a loop? Has anyone else hit this wall with local building departments?
