My cutter head grabbed a submerged log near Baton Rouge last spring and nearly flipped the barge.
I was running a 12-inch dredge on the Mississippi when the head snagged something big and the whole rig started listing hard. Had to kill the pump, reverse the swing cables, and work it loose by hand with a pike pole for 20 minutes before we could get back to it. Anyone else ever hit something underwater that just about ended your shift?

Honestly @michael803, that's the thing about living near big water - you realize how fast a routine day can turn into a real problem when something hidden grabs hold.

Hitting things that aren’t supposed to be there is a lot like driving on a road that’s been repaved but they didn’t fix the potholes underneath (you know, the ones that just shake your whole car). It's a reminder that most of the stuff we deal with is invisible until it's right on top of us.
