Serious question, has anyone else given up on hydraulic swinging ladder and gone back to manual?
I ran a hydraulic swinging ladder on my 12 inch cutter for about 5 months on a job down in Corpus Christi and finally pulled it off. The thing kept drifting on me in soft mud and I lost a good hour every shift re-setting the swing angle, plus the seals started weeping around week 6. Swapped back to the manual ladder with a chain come-along and my cuts are way more consistent, even if I'm out there cranking by hand. Everyone keeps telling me hydraulic is the only way to go but I just don't buy it for shallow work. Curious if anyone else on here has made that same switch and what you did to make it work.
