Switched from manual logbooks to a tablet app last month
I used to scribble all my dredge readings in a spiral notebook, but after losing a page in the rain near Savannah, I finally tried a cheap waterproof tablet app. Now I can track depths, pump hours, and fuel usage in real time without smudged ink. The app cost me $12 and saved about 3 hours of paperwork each week. Has anyone else made the switch from paper to digital for their daily logs?

You were always a paper guy too huh? I was the same way, swore by my waterproof field notebooks for years until I dropped one overboard and watched it sink like a rock. That made me try a little app on my old phone just to track bucket counts and fuel burn. Now I can pull up last week's numbers without flipping through soggy pages, and I actually add notes faster with the touchscreen than scribbling with a half-frozen pen.

Are you kidding me? That soggy notebook sinking was a sign you should have doubled down on paper not switched to some app that'll die when the battery freezes or the screen cracks.

Jumped into that digital life kicking and screaming myself. I was the guy with three backup pens and a laminated cheat sheet taped to the console, thought apps were for kids. Then I forgot to close my notebook one night and a wave baptized it, turned all my monthly fuel numbers into a blue ink Rorschach test. Finally gave in after that, got a cheap tablet with a rubber case. Now I track everything with fat fingers and a dry screen, and yeah it's way easier, but I still catch myself tapping on the screen like it's a touchy old calculator.
