Unpopular opinion: I hate the new dredge control panels they're putting in everything

Last week on the Lake Erie job, we had to swap to a backup rig because the main one's screen froze. The new touchscreen panels look fancy, but give me the old physical levers and buttons any day. Three years ago on the Mississippi, I could feel a pump cavitate through the lever before the alarm even sounded. Now you're just staring at a graph hoping it updates. Has anyone else had to deal with these and found a way to make them more reliable?

Ugh, it's like that with everything now.

You could feel a pump cavitate through the lever. That says it all. Now you're just waiting for a little cartoon icon of a pump to look sad on a screen that's probably got a greasy fingerprint right over the alarm indicator. Progress.

Bet you never had to clean grease off that screen though.
