Warning: hydraulic hose blew on the Black Warrior and now I do one thing different before every shift
Was cutting a channel on a job near Tuscaloosa last week when the suction hose let go at the swivel and dumped maybe 20 gallons of slurry on the deck in about 4 seconds. Nobody got hurt, but the hose was only 7 months old and looked fine from the outside. Turns out the outer cover had been rubbing on a clamp bracket and the wire was rusted through right where I couldn't see it. Now I run my hand down the whole hose and check under the clamps before I even fire up. Any of you catch this earlier, or got a way to check the inside layer without pulling it off?
