A client's dad warned me about the framing on a Reno remodel

He was a retired builder and said the studs were too green and to wait a month before boarding. I ignored him, and now every seam on that wall is cracked. Anyone else had a job where the lumber wasn't dry enough?

Used to think that was just old guys being picky. Learned the hard way on a garage project last year, same exact thing. Now I check every load that comes off the truck.

My old boss used to say green studs can shrink almost a quarter inch in a month. That's a lot of movement for drywall to handle. I mean, it's one of those things you only learn the hard way, but that retired builder was spot on. It's a real pain to fix after the fact, too.

Agree completely with @the_hayden. Seen it happen. That much shrinkage will crack every seam and pop every nail. Waiting for wood to dry saves so much headache later. It's a basic rule too many people rush past.
