Counted my scrap pieces on a big commercial job and did the math

I tallied up the offcuts from a 40-unit apartment build and figured out we threw away about 230 sheets worth, roughly 8% of the total, has anyone else ever tracked their waste percentage like that?

You ever notice how sheet goods always seem to multiply in the corner of a job site, like they're breeding overnight? I remember one time we were framing a little addition and I swore we had enough 4x8s to build a second house. Ended up finding a whole stack of warped plywood behind some insulation that someone had been using as a makeshift workbench for weeks. Probably counted for half our "waste" that week. Anyway, 8% sounds about right for a big build, but the real kicker is how much time we spend moving those scraps around before we finally toss em.

Buddy found a full sheet of OSB in a ceiling joist bay last week, still had the sticker on it.
