Got schooled by a 6 foot level after 12 years of eyeing it

I always hung drywall using my tape and a pencil mark, then just ran the screw gun by feel. Last month on a ceiling job in Akron, the GC walks over and says my seams looked like a roller coaster. He handed me his 6 foot level and I checked the first sheet, it was off by almost a quarter inch. I honestly never thought the float was that far off, figured the mud would fix it all. That one check turned into me leveling every board and my finish time actually got FASTER because I stopped going back to fix spots. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize your 'quick' method was actually the slow way all along?
