Had a chat with a painter about my finish work that stuck with me

He told me he can always spot a drywall job done with a 12 inch knife versus a 14 inch, and that the extra two inches makes his prep way easier. I've been using a 12 inch for final coats for years without a second thought. Do you folks think the knife size makes that big a difference for the next trade?

Nah, that's just painters being picky lol.

That extra two inches is a real thing, andrew_baker9, it makes a smoother surface for them to paint.

Totally get what kevint47 is saying about that smoother surface. I helped a friend paint once and those little gaps from shorter rollers are a real pain. You end up with streaks and have to go over everything twice. That extra bit of coverage actually saves time in the long run, even if it seems picky at first. What kind of painting were you guys talking about doing?
