Hanging board in a 100 year old farmhouse in Stillwater taught me to trust the laser
A job last month had me hanging 42 sheets in a farmhouse outside Stillwater, and every stud in that place was bowed, twisted, or just plain missing where the plans showed one. I kept snapping chalk lines like I always do, and by the third wall nothing was lining up, ceiling gaps everywhere. My helper grabbed the rotary laser off the truck and set it up on a bucket, and once we started pulling every screw to that line the whole room straightened out. Twelve years of chalk lines and it took a 20 year old tool I already owned to fix my mess. Anybody else switch to a laser for ceilings in old houses, or do you still trust the chalk?
Thats the same thing that happened to me with a level app on my phone after years of eyeballing stuff. You get so used to your old way that you forget the fancy tool in the truck exists. Funny how the fix is usually something you already had.
