Hot take: I thought pre-mixed joint compound was a waste of money compared to powder, but a big Reno job changed my mind.

I was doing a whole house remodel in Sacramento and the schedule was tight. The foreman insisted on the pre-mixed stuff, and I saw how much faster it was to just grab a bucket and go. It saved us a full day of mixing time. Anyone else switch their opinion on this after a specific job?

My last Reno in Tempe proved powder's a pain when you're racing the clock.

Honestly, I gotta disagree based on my own experience. Tbh, that pre-mixed stuff is way too wet and shrinks like crazy, so you end up doing way more coats. For a big job, I'd rather spend the time mixing powder to get a better finish that doesn't crack. Speed isn't everything if the work doesn't hold up.

Ngl, @finley_smith, the shrink factor is real but the waste from dried-up buckets is brutal too.
