I know everyone says to use a 10 inch knife for taping, but I switched to a 6 inch on a big ceiling job and it was a total game changer.

Yeah I was a die-hard 10 inch guy for years, swore by it. Tried a 6 on a long hallway ceiling last month and it just felt so much lighter and easier to control my wrist. Totally changed how I see smaller knives now.

Ever read that old article about how surgeons pick their tools? They talked about how a lighter scalpel gives better feel for delicate work. Makes me wonder if the same idea applies here with knives. A smaller blade might not cover as much ground at once, but the control you gain could mean fewer passes to fix mistakes. Sometimes going slower with the right tool ends up being faster overall. Your hallway ceiling story really shows that.

Smaller knives also reduce arm fatigue on overhead work, which is huge.
